We applauded the rough minimalism of Maurice Fultons last Syclops single. So did the muso boffins at The Wire, as did DJs as varied as Four Tet, Jazzanova and Optimo. The Fly is on the very verge of house music, using a live drummer, a handful of session musicians and electronic noises and cutting it all up for a bizarre brand of funk that the rather excellent Tirk point rightly to having shades of Lindstrøm and The DFA. In a world blind to ideas, the one-eyed man is king.
