There were plenty of serious candidates, but Louie Vega was the producer who beat the others to the punch for Strictly’s 100th record. The first release under the Sole Fusion moniker, the shuffling ‘We Can Make It’ forged a style Louie and MAW partner Kenny would take and run with, a killer groove overdubbed with vocal ad-libs from the talented Pierre Salandy, who’d previously fronted Tribal House’s excellent ‘Mother Africa’. For dub heads the key cut is the Touch and Grow mix where the piano loop gets worked to the bone.
