There must be something about Holland - there's no other way of explaining this proliferation of super techno DJs/producers.

Shinedoe gave up dancing for DJing, and she hasn't looked back since with big nights over the last twelve months at Watergate, Robert Johnson and Fabric. She also knows her way around the studio; she runs minimal funk label Intacto with Dylan Hermelijn, aka 2000 and One, and last year she released her debut album 'Sound Travelling', combining Detroit and minimal with West African rhythms.

Next up is this, her first commercial mix album on Music Man. Past installments in the series have been spliced, diced and put back together in Ableton Live by DJs such as Steve Bug and Joris Voorn, but Shinedoe decided to mix her album the old-fashioned way with two hands, two turntables and, er, two CD mixers.

Mixing everything from DJ Bone and Ron Trent to Substance & Vainquer, 2000 & One and Underground Resistance whilst including at the same time tracks by Mr V, Dennis Ferrer and Gui Boratto, this is proper house music developing into deep crunchy techno. The album stitches together house and techno from Detroit (DJ Bone, Underground Resistance), Chicago (Ron Trent, Roy Davis Jr.), Berlin (Substance & Vainqueur) and of course Amsterdam (Polder, 2000 and One, Dave Ellesmere).
