Introducing the first release in the Hed Kandi Artiste series, ‘Those Things Deluxe’.

A double mix album comprising of ‘Those Things Remixed’, new interpretations of tracks from Miguels’ fantastic ‘Those Things’ album from a who’s who of house music, as well as the original ‘Those Things’ album itself, dripping with sunkissed groove.

In his own words, this is music “that you can enjoy and listen to at home, in the club or anywhere – not necessarily just to rock the dance floor”. Miguel Migs draws no limits to his artistry and this album is not only a masterpiece but a truly delicious double treat for any Hed Kandi fan.

’Those Things’ (tracks 1-13) contains the original material, the lifeblood of this release and it really is the epitome of West Coast organic soulful house music. Miguel is renowned for refusing to compromise his style and as a result this album oozes authenticity. There are collaborations aplenty from the fantastic Lisa Shaw to Groove Armada collaborator Tim Fuller via Brand Nubian hiphop heavyweight Sadat X. The album has something for everyone; super smooth beats, layers of funky guitar, sweet understated vocal performances, live percussion and succulent keyboards, all with an underlying recipe of funk, soul and house.

‘Those Things Remixed’ (tracks 14-27) brings a plethora of fantastic versions of the tracks on the original album (tracks 1-13 on this album). Australian producer Simon Grey adds a thick layer of funk and synths that complement Lisa Shaw’s vocals in ‘Those Things’, while ‘Make Things Happen’ starts with a perfect build-up which evolves into a contagious trumpet-led beat. Track five, Faze Action’s ‘Fire’ is an explosive tropical tune that blends Afro-Jazz inspired house rhythms with a backline of blaring horns. For a full experience of Migs’ style, make sure to turn up his remix of Cottonbelly’s ‘Fire’ and the funky bass lines bringing contrast from the original version.

Overall this raw fusion of soul and electronica complete with mixes from the house elite provide afro-beat, US house grooves, energetic flavour and true musical talent to the table.
