It’s not often an artist album takes you on a genuine journey, but this ticks all the right boxes. With major backing and support from huge names such as Annie Mac and Pete Tong, this album has seen a string of hugely popular releases for the boys including Kniteriderz, a quirky, jump up rendition of the classic theme tune from the retro TV show, which showcases the vocals of MC Spyda, and the rock inspired title track Universal Truth, which dramatically kicks off the album with a cracking guitar riff and some proper jamming hi-hats.

Hopping back and forth between mellow and funky, and sometimes a building combination of the two, Universal Truth is a crossover album that successfully takes risks that most other producers wouldn’t dare. Making some brave, dynamic and unexpected moves, making the most unexpected of samples work, with confidence. Combining rock with ambience and a trademark snare throughout, sounding as if Giorgio Moroder did Drum & Bass.

There is a very live sound about it and in true Moroder style, any one of these album tracks would sit nicely as a soundtrack to a movie.

Also worthy of a mention are the tracks 'Skyscraper', which Annie Mac absolutely abused on her Friday night show on Radio 1, and Coast To Coast, featuring Louis Smith, an emotive and powerful vocal smasher that’s had the ravers bouncing like fools. Of the eleven tracks on the album, five feature the vocals of Spyda [Aquasky, Pendulum] Louis Smith [Virus], Sylo [Infrared], Robert Owens [London Elektricity, Sunship, Photek] and Mister Who.

It’s good not knowing what to expect next. There is an air of unpredictability about this album, so if you like the safety net of knowing what comes next, don’t bother with Universal Truth!
