After an excellent start to label-life in 2008, Comfortably Numbed Digital returns in 2009 with ‘The Drop’ by Swedish talent Ludwig S and a slew of winter-warming remixes. Having already been hailed as one of the new generation of the “Swedish House Mafia” by DJs and punters alike, Ludwig S is at the peak of his powers with ‘The Drop’, an energetic, stabby tech-track with superb production and floor-slaying breakdown. First up on remix detail is Deft Deuce with their ‘Sonar Remix’ where an initially slow-burning arrangement develops into a growling electro-houser with a refreshingly restrained breakdown which lets the track breathe. Combining Chicago-house beats and production with fidget sensibilities is Earl Jive with his “Drop The Soap Remix”, a really interesting cut which will win fans across the board while South African Comfortably Numbed co-founder Jon Fynn delivers a deeper, trippier take for the heads. Finally for the remixes, rising stars Filth & Splendour live up to their name with an incendiary cut which should be enough but Comfortably Numbed Digital, however, feel that even this behemoth package is not enough, and have included Bonus cut, “Void” which showcases Ludwig’s deeper side and rounds the package off perfectly.
