This is the first release on EQ [Grey] off-shoot label [Grey] LTD, which will concentrate on releasing quality house & tech house from local and international artists. We would like to introduce Headland who are Dave Basek and DJ Phil Smart, along with a morphing collection of musicians drawn from the combined talents of the 20 For 7 / Junkbeats collective, based in Byron Bay on the NSW north coast of Australia. 20 for 7 are best known for their co-production of West coast house heavyweights H-Foundation debut album ‘Environments’ for seminal Scottish label Soma. There is no surprise that a heavy west coast influence lingers through the original mix with a phat b-line slapped up by Simon ‘Boot C’ Baker, and a sublime vocal provided by Coco Bootae, aka Dark Lotus, a flowerchild of soul& funk which really works a treat. Flip it over for the remix and you’ll find one huge phonkin’ houser from the Royal Drums main man Alan Barratt which will definitely tear the roof-off any club
