As Long As The Moment Exists |
[ARTIST ALBUM] |

Artist: Chris Fortier |

After a long list of accomplishments that has seen him do nearly everything possible in dance music, he concurs the final personal goal of an artist album of his own material. This comes straight from the heart and sees the man spread his wings to become a true artist beyond his fame as a DJ. The Album took all of 2006 to complete, starting in January and all tracks have been tweaked and sublimely edited to ensure the best possible sonic journey into deep sounds.
”As Long as the Moment Exists” explores underground sounds and electronic influences, with an experimental twist. At a glance the excursion starts with the ambient soundscapes before shifting to mid-tempo and quirky electronic cuts with searing minimalistic dips through dubby tech house and twisted melodic trips before winding things back with chilled out vibes, to round off an accomplished foray into electronica. ”
As a producer, Chris has released over 40 original productions and remixed countless more. Most notably in 1998, scoring an international dance hit with his original reworking of Delerium’s “Silence.” His remix discography reads like a who’s who of dance music at any one time, while his Fade Records label continues to be regarded as one of the most respected and consistent dance labels in the US. To those that know Fortier’s history, they know to expect plenty more to come, for those that are just getting initiated, Welcome!
Under his 40oz Production guise, Chris has released the Downlow’d EP, a 4 tracker that musically could fit comfortably on labels such as Cocoon, Warp, Border Community or Kompakt. Further remixes of Chk, Chk, Chk (!!!), Alexi Delano, Chris Udoh and Freaky Chakra show Chris’ genre defying sound at it’s underground best.
Chris Fortier’s releases are supported by a massive cross section of DJs from Laurent Garnier, Alexkid, Josh Wink, James Holden and DJ Three through to Sasha, p>
It is artists such as Chris Fortier who are inextricably linked to the underground dance music scene that are the genuinely pushing the sound forward. Chris’ determination to continue to push the envelope can be seen in all aspects of his career. Proof of this can be found on his recent triple CD compilation Balance 007 also released on EQ Recordings, that was name checked for compilation of the year by numerous international press publications.
While many people may claim to know Chris’ sound, with their focus on continually labelling him one thing or another, Chris is equally as focused on his efforts to push back the musical boundaries. It is testament to the man, that he continues to develop his sound and musical direction, after all, as the man says himself “I just like to play good underground music, full stop.”
