Wallop Digital is the new digital offshoot of Wallop Recordings and sister label Wallop Limited.

As defined in the Concise Oxford Dictionary ‘wallop’ means ‘to thrash, to beat’, ‘a heavy resounding blow’ and ‘beer or other drink’. Add Wallop Recordings to the equation, however, and perhaps we should include ‘thumping good tune’.There was a definite progressive flavour to the label in the early days but always energetic and edged with funk rather than plodding and dark. Later signings include Infra-Red and Mau Mau with Wallop soon gaining a reputation for quality underground music. 2002 saw the creation of sister-label Wallop Limited with an emphasis on housier material with each release limited to 2,000 copies. Fast-forward to 2004 and the label will be stepping things up a gear. Ten other tracks are ready to go with a release on Wallop Recordings and Wallop Limited planned for every three weeks alternating between the two. The Wallop sound is also becoming more house oriented reflecting Lee’s continuing love affair with the music. Wallop Limited in particular will focus on quality house – expect to hear a vocal projects featuring Taka Boom and Sabrina Johnson sometime soon - with Wallop Recordings reserved for more progressive and tribal material.
