30Hz set up the Vertical Sound imprint in 2003 as a platform for breaks records that took funk as a matter of principle and not just an aesthetic. Matching the 'funk' with plenty of 'crunk', Vertical Sound records are characterised by a groove based, low-down sleazy flavour – electro-breaks riddims to get bodies on the dancefloor bumping. Alongside label stalwart 30Hz, VS has hosted plates from the likes of Smithmonger, Baobinga and ID and the awesome The Body Snatchers.
