Label Bio - Trapez
TRAPEZ was founded in December 2000 as the second label from the mighty German Traum Schallplatten-office. The label, run by Jacqueline Klein/ Anima and DJ Triple R (a.k.a. Riley Reinhold), has produced top notch techno records on a monthly basis since then.
It started off featuring techno in a true but more lyrical dancefloor-fashion with artists from Moskow (Anton Kubikov, Yura Moorsush and Lazyfish) as well as Jacek Sienkiewicz from Poland and the Canadian cut up-collage focused artist Akufen (aka Marc le Clair), and was the first label in Europe to discover Akufen, the first release being 'Psychometry 1-3'. It gathered a quick worldwide reputation, which inspired artists around the world to pick up on his style, a good example of this being TRAPEZ 39 'Imaginary Rockstar Syndrome' by Ozy from Thule Records who combined dub with cut up methods.
The label has developed during the past four years to a more open format for underground dance culture, due also to it`s sub-label TRAPEZ LTD which highlights new artists with new ideas, less experienced to those on TRAPEZ regular. The funky, slick sound of the Cologne based minimal label TRAPEZ regular is now also re-inventing itself fast through releases by Oliver Hacke, Jeff Samuel and the duo Steve Barnes (a.k.a. Process) and Riley Reinhold. The label owner revealed this new direction through his mix compilation TRAPEZ CD2 'Selection 2'.
The labels identity stretches beyond it’s quality sound. For each release, the inner label artwork simply changes colour, reflecting the serial character of TRAPEZ, always recogniseable in a shop.
