Label - Sunday Best

Label Bio - Sunday Best
BBC Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank founded Sunday Best in February 1995. Originally it was a weekly Sunday night leftfield club hosted under the centuries-old beams of south London's 'Tearooms des Artistes' with an ethos based on an anything goes musical policy plus mind blowing hallucinogenic visuals, scrummy food, beer and cocktails.
In 1997 Rob wanted an outlet for some of the amazing music he was hearing… and Sunday Best Recordings was born! The label in the early days was best known for releasing groundbreaking eclectic compilations that introduced the world to then unknown artists such as Groove Armada, Lemon Jelly and Bent. Since 2002 Sunday Best's line up has expanded significantly to feature an eclectic roster of talented artists across a plethora of genres.
They still throw blindingly good parties and also organise the highly acclaimed 3 day Bestival festival on the Isle of Wight. It was voted 'Best Medium-sized Festival' and 'Most Innovative Festival' in 2005 and 'Best Medium-to-Large Festival' in 2006 at the UK Festival Awards - which means a lot to them as it was voted for by festival go-ers. Check www.bestival.net for the full lo-down.
Sunday Best head-hippy Rob da Bank also has his own radio show on BBC Radio 1. Head over to Rob’s BBC Radio 1 page to see and hear what he plays.
There you go, that's a brief run down of all things Sunday Best! There's so much more though… have a mosey at their History and News sections for more info and keep checking back to see what else they are up to as they always have new tricks up our sleeves!
