Sporting Riff Raff is a brand new UK record label established at the tail end of 2006 The brainchild of Daz Sampson (Uniting Nations, Bus Stop and Eurovision 2006) and Ben O’Brien and Joe Taylor, founders of Nuxx…all mixed together with a particularly heavy night drinking that we’re all still a bit vague about. After working with a number of labels between us - turning Uniting Nations into one of the UK’s most successful commercial dance acts; taking on the worst that Europe could throw at us in Eurovision and helping the likes of Nizlopi to their huge No 1 with The JCB Song we thought we would have a go ourselves.

Noting that the UK music industry was almost exclusively based in London we decided it was time instead to get back to the roots of great British dance music and set up shop in – yes, you guessed it - Stockport. So now our aim is to seek out those big hit pop dance records lurking in bedrooms and clubs across the country and turn them in to, well, even bigger hits.

Plus we’ve got an office in London (cheaper than a hotel you see) so when we find something juicy straight off the plane we’re well positioned to slip that in our record bags too. And we’ve teamed up with the UK’s most successful independent – indeed most successful period – dance label Ministry Of Sound, who invite us in to play our stuff from time to time and help work our records internationally.
