Label Bio - Nite Life Collective
House music, the Chicago-born child of Disco. As many of the members of its early scene watched it’s original deep, soulful, vibe being lost to the more commercial exploits of newly developing offshoots, there arose an attempt at reclamation. Instead of embracing the increasingly commercially successful forms, that many felt had strayed too far from the original intentions of House, there was an underground movement, by many of the survivors, to return to the more jazz, soul, and world music influences of its parent (the original, soulful stuff, not the US marketing machine Disco). Eventually given the name “Deep House”. In 1997, realizing the significance of this musical renaissance, in its hometown, Dust Traxx Chicago started it’s own Deep House imprint (Nite Life Collective). It’s purpose: to insure exposure, to the world, of an important step in the evolution of House music that may, otherwise, have been underrepresented by a House/Dance music industry that seems to have forgotten, or never understood, it’s roots. To become the “Blue Note” for a new jazzy, soulful, dance music generation. A Deep House stronghold is securely in place with Nite Life Collective; past and present membership including Auheer Harr, BMC, Brian Harden, DJ Quad, Gene Hunt, Jackie Green, Jacob, Jere McAllister, Love Street (Rob Curcio), Matt Hughes, Mike Saxon, Moon Man (Boo Williams), Mr. A.L.I., Naked Soul, Nature Love, Paul Johnson, Peven Everett, Rob Jones, Roy Davis Jr., Tim Harper, Vick Lavender, Wavelength and Glenn Underground. A collective indeed, of Deep Organic Jazzy House Music musicians that use an unprecedented amount of live instrumentation, and true musical knowledge, heralding back to the days of Disco. One of the core trio of the Dust Traxx domain, Nite Life Collective is the junction where the Disco sounds of Patrick Adams and Leroy Burgess come head to head with Larry Heard and Marshall Jefferson’s 80’s House Music and the Afro-Beat sound of Femi Kuti; making sense of all that history and laying down avenues of new sounds. A worldwide hit, Nite Life Collective translates to anyone who believes in the House ideal. A sweet release from all that holds you back. Enlisting the aide of, House music veteran Producer/Songwriter, Jere McAllister (co-composer of such songs as The Night Writers “Let the Music Use You” and CeCe Peniston’s “We Got A Love Thang”), as head of A&R, Nite Life Collective has begun the authoring of a new chapter in music history. A story of the past meets the future, and we all wait for the new developments as they materialize. Expect new EP’s from Nature Love, Mr. A.L.I., Harmony Funk and Gene Hunt as well as full lengths from Glenn Underground and Mr. A.L.I. before the year’s end.
