Label - Exceptional Records

Label Bio - Exceptional Records
Exceptional opened for business in 1999. Since day one its mission has been to focus on leftfield dance artists, always with the emphasis on quality rather than quantity. The styles of music are eclectic, with techno, house, jazz, break beats, hip hop and broken beats sitting comfortably side-by-side. The purpose of the label has been to grow its artists in a very organic way, developing them through working on album-based projects.
Artists on the label come from all across the globe and include: Plej, United Future Organization, Calm, Susumu Yokota, Ken Ishii, Bluprint, Gary Martin, Blu Mar Ten, Coda, Force of Nature, Takkyu Ishino, John Beltran, Fat Jon, Ernesto, Cloud, Cane 141, Tubbs, Transparent Sound, and The Rogue Element.
Over the years many singles have been lifted from the albums and have been remixed by some fantastic producers (including Kyoto Jazz Massive, Akufen, Osunlade, Jimpster, Swell Session, Quantic and Moonstarr), spreading the word opening up the exceptional audience even further.
The singles are usually aimed at the feet as well as the head and to keep all the vinyl junkies out there happy. 2005 has seen albums from Tubbs and Bluprint, with a reissue of Plej’s underground smash “Electronic Music from the Swedish leftcoast”. Forthcoming albums include a superb album from Ernesto entitled “A New Blues” and a fantastic low-fi corker from Cane 141 “Moon Pool”. Cloud’s debut album should be landing soon and there is a rumour that Plej are near to finishing their second album “Return of the long lost brother”.
