Label - Berwick Street

Label Bio - Berwick Street
Named after London’s sharpest row of record stores Berwick Street Records is now officially wrestling with the big boys after a stream of killer tunes and essential remixes from jocks like the headmaster himself, Timo Garcia, as well as Smokin Jo’s TRANSSTR project, Yousef, Lutzenkirchen, Pig&Dan and Swen Weber.
Effortlessly cool with a sharp range of threads and accessories, Berwick St. has welcomed the digital age with their entire catalogue now available both on wax, and in binary! With the biggest players in world electronica like James Zabiela, Steve Lawler, Claude Von Stroke, Stephan Bodzin & Lil Louie Vega all happy to spin Berwick St. tunes then sit back and watch the dance floor ignite, it’s no wonder that the label can regularly be found at the top of many charts.
There’s no time to stand around patting yourself on the back, though, which is why boss man Timo has always got many things in the pipeline…
‘I’m proud of my label: we’ve built things up and nurtured new talent along the way and now we’re making the big guys take note. Pretty soon we’ll be unleashing fresh new remixes from DJ Pierre, Eric Kupper and Onionz, so the future’s bright!’
That’s a future that our industry’s favourite publication, DJ Magazine, was right to cotton on to. Proudly stuck to the cover of one issue late last year was a Berwick Street Records showcase mix, lovingly compiled by Timo. It succinctly incorporated both ends of Berwick St’s musical spectrum and deservingly propelled the label into the conscious of the coolest clubbing cats, DJs and producers alike.
Rooted at the heart of the London scene, Berwick St’s approach is refreshing. Rather than hoping to be known for a certain niche sound, their fix is quality. Whether it’s Balearic, electro, straight up or techy house it doesn’t matter: as long as it’s got merit, it’s in.
And that principle holds when it comes to the events Berwick St. host. Having just finished a one-year residency at one of London’s top clubs, the Berwick Street Sessions are now on the move. Touring with a tasty mix of headliners (think Timo, Audiofly, Ricky Stone, Lutzenkirchen) and emerging homegrown talent (including Anil Chawla, Catz, Ninja Cowboys & D DUB) from the label, any parties this crew host are nailed on to be perfect slices of house hedonism.
So, whether you’re on this side or that side of the artist/clubber divide, Berwick Street Records is a top label that’ll be supplying your Saturday night dancing fodder more and more in the months to come.
