Label - Beat Freak Recordings

Label Bio - Beat Freak Recordings
Beat Freak Recordings is a small label dedicated to reinventing house and a mission to prove to the rest of the world that Spain has a lot more going for it than Julio Iglesias, La Macarena or Los Ketchup. Indeed, since it was set up at the end of the nineties it has been at the forefront of reinventing house and more than 60 releases later it seems inevitable that this work in progress will be the constant that defines the label. Regular collaborators with the label include D-Formation (who is also the head honcho), Julian Poker, Simon&Shaker, Adolf Marsan, J. Velarde, Sergio Fernandez amongst others. It’s worth noting, for the sake of noting, that the original Beat Freak logo was designed by DJ Chus who also made some of his first, fledgling house releases through the label. Similarly, the artists who have appeared on or remixed for Beat Freak in the past now reads like a who’s who of contemporary house but that was then and this is now. We move on, onwards and upwards and our best releases are always the new ones; darker, dirtier and grittier house is pretty much the trademark of the label but intertwined into our deepest moments you will often find lighter, brighter sounds and songs. Beat Freak Recordings likes to surprise, confound, confuse and then! shock!! even annoy!!! where possible and it’s probably for this reason that you’ll find that most of the releases on the label end up in the boxes and on the charts and turntables of the most discerning, most important and usually most cutting edge DJs.
