After beginning his DJing career with slots at parties across the North East of England in 1989, he began furthering his standing on the global dance music scene as one-third of the prolific Lexicon Avenue, teaming up with production partners Chris Scott and Mark Armstrong. They’ve been released on some of house music’s most influential imprints - including Yoshitoshi, Saw Recordings, Renaissance, Junior Boy’s Own and Hooj - as well as being licensed to leading compilations such as the Global Underground and Balance series. As I was doing a bit of myspace stalking on -one of my latest favourite producers - Kanio , found out that it is someone that we already know really well, Ed Kane that is , who has often been described as a leader of the new school! Pioneering a fresh approach to electro, his tracks have enabled him to secure gigs the country over and beyond.

Starting life in the music industry as a sound engineer, Ed’s technical knowledge in the studio has enabled him to produce some truly innovative tracks. These skills have enabled Ed to sign tunes and remix for some of the worlds biggest dance labels including: Toolroom, Stealth, Definitive, Gut and Gusto, as well as remixing Kosheen’s new single ‘Overkill’.

His stuff has been supported by some of the biggest names in dance music including: Armand Van Helden, Tom Stephan, Eddie Halliwell, Mark Knight, D-Ramirez, Martijn Ten Velden, Micky Slim, Grayham Gold, Filthy Rich, and Noir.

Despite this success as producer, it all came about through a love of DJ-ing. Ed first got hooked at just 13. Now playing regular gigs across the country and beyond, he is known for his energetic and original sets. Ed’s skills are versatile, however he is known for his, upfront, twisted, and sometimes jacking sound which is always capable of breathing life into the sleepiest of dancefloors. The D-Joust DJ Competition EUROPEAN FINALS

Saturday October 18th - Basement room @ Plan B, Brixton, 9:30pm-6am

The first semi final absolutely kicked off @ Plan B last week with some awesome DJ talent on show.  The next installment will see awesome DJs representing from London, The Midlands / North and from Europe.

This round is hosted by the Midlands, DJ RCaine, Pioneer DJ Competition Champion, will be hitting the decks with extra guests playing around the 3 hour competition sets.

The stakes couldn’t be higher. 7 Competition DJs play 30 minute sets so expect the finest house / breaks and associated genres mixed, scratched and mashed up for a place in the Grand Final. (more…)

The Bulgarian aka Mr. Elastik - is actually Bulgarian but living in Cape Town - he first blasted onto the scene in December of 2006 with his much acclaimed Loop Poop EP as one of the pioneers of the then still emerging Fidget House sound.

He has spent most of 2007 blowing up all over the world producing over 20 tracks and remixes in that short space of time and still managing to do well under his Techno/Electro guise as Mr.Elastik. 2008 Seems to be carrying on with that momentum, with some big name remixes and releases (such as Larry Tee’s next single “I love u” and an official remix of Human Resources’ 1991 Classic “Dominator”) on the way and the birth of Feta Recordings, his collaborative effort with long time breakbeat veteran Vlad Sokolov.

What’s the first record you bought?
Err… it was some strange one-off obscure breakbeat record with some The Matrix samples in it and a super crunchy low-fi bassline, it was amazing but I don’t remember who did it and it definitely was not a good seller. (more…)

What we see in the trailer, ironically, kind of makes the band’s tour look like a mission to bring about the biblical apocalypse. And by that, I mean that it looks really really fun. Cream’s Birthdays are one of the highlights of the clubbing calender and only a few days left for the big party, without a doubt this one will be huge, as once again they deliver a mouth watering line-up… The main room will be headlined by the legendary Paul van Dyk , joining him will be Adam Sheridan, Cream resident Gareth Wyn and local talent Rob H. Over in the Courtyard Cream regulars the Swedish House Mafia will take control, they will be joined by Sebasiten Leger, Lee Ellis & Anthony Probyn.

The Annexe which is the room where it all began back in ’92 will be hosted by Dave Spoon, Chris Lake, Mason and Cream Resident Andy Mac. And after having interviewed Mason prior to his set @ Cream’s b-day, we caught up with Chris Lake on Cream & music …

Chris: For me influences come from everything that is good and bad in day to day life…they are timeless. Sorry… is that a bit deep for a Monday morning?

There’s no grinding electro synths or wicked beat pattern. Instead they’ve been replaced some some wicked thick kicks and laid back grooves.

If anyone remembers an album called ‘Wreckage’ by Overseer released in 2003. Then they might have heard of Kanute, a band hailing from the UK. Relatively unknown, I’ve decided to try and boost their listeners ever so slightly, because this is music that should be heard. If you haven’t heard Wreckage please find yourself a copy and listen to it, it’s one of the greatest albums ever created and I can guarantee you that you’ve heard half the tracks on the album through Car / DVD / TV / Movie / Anything trailers and advertisements.

If you’re even remotely interested in Chilled out beats and grooves that sprinkle influences from Trip-hop greats Massive Attack and Portishead (Which Trip-hop artist ISN’T influenced by these guys anyway). Then check Kanute out.

I suppose most of the tech-house lovers are quite familiar with Djuma Soundsystem’s unforgettable hit “Les Djinns”, which was another track that has managed to stay on DJdownload’s all time charts for a long time … For me though , coming from mediteranian roots, hearing that oriental sample with a tech-house production outfit was a bit tad unusual, but that’s where these guys made a difference , and worked their magic with a catchy tune that is impossible to put down as just one genre…

Djuma Soundsytem are Norwegian DJs Mikkas and the Danish Lars B., they are also known as Def Jaguar and Flip (Christopher Egeber ) is a 25 year old Danish DJ/producer of almost 9 years and was once nominated for an award as Upfront DJ of the Year at the Danish DeeJay Awards. (more…)

Monosurround’s story is quite familiar , in January 1999, Ramtin A. and Erik S. met at a club in , Berlin and decided to make music together. And they made the statement of “Never to get stuck in a rut and always keep re-discover music”. Shortly thereafter, they started working on music for two German soundtracks: “Harte Jungs” (Rothemund/Eichinger) and “Liebesluder” (Detlef Buck). At the same time, they started putting their first stage project together, called Monosurround.

Following Bortchick, they have released Cocked, Locked, Ready To Rock with outstanding remixes which led them to gain huge support .

And After a long wait, Monosurround finally released their debut album “Hello World” on the infamous Citizen Records , found by Vitalic. which is a musical journey through an image-driven story.
