Wally Lopez is one of the few Spanish names considered as a pioneer of house music. Born in Madrid in 1976, Ángel David López began his career as radio DJ and presenter at the early age of thirteen. In 2000 he’s released what would be his first international hit ‘Amman’, followed by ‘Patricia Never leaves the House’ (which is one of my all time favourite house tunes) and ‘Disco Night’, played by artists such as Pete Tong, Hernan Cattaneo and Steve Lawler, which led to him being named as the man of the moment.
After working for a whole host of labels and artists, he decided to create La Factoria Discos (now TheFactoria)His musical intuition is only comparable to his enormous work capacity. Over the last few years he has made remixes with groups such as Lighthouse Family, Enigma and Santana, and worked with the likes of Bob Sinclar, Pete Tong, Âme and Soul Seekerz.
Wally has played on the five continents and taken part in electronic music festivals such as Global Gathering, Exit Festival and Weekend Dance. And will be heading off to Creamfields Festival this weekend, but before that he is our guest …

Well… hard work, this months Im playing with Danny Tenaglia every Thursday at Space Ibiza, It’s being a incredible experience. Danny is full of energy and every season leaves me a higher level to reach. He’s fantastic.

What can people expect from your live show?
I try to make people dance, make them have fun and enjoy, I always try to work for them, I really try to enjoy with them as well. I love people!!!! I think people can expect a good trip throught house music.
What makes a party good & bad?
I guess that having that answer is the key to make a party good. Every place is different, people are different so every night can be great, especially if clubbers want. they are a big part of success, also club staff, bar, security, managing…
Is a DJ a star today? Or does he have to be more than just a DJ?
Maybe, I think that we give people many ours of party. More than any other pop stars. We offer people more and more, in radio, clubs, festivals so that’s the reason Djs are becoming bigger everyday, but probably we are in the middle of that terms. I don’t see anyone like Rolling Stones, U2, but in a few years… question of time?
What was the party that affected you a lot?
It’s was a festival in Australia, I love Australian people. FatBoy Slim and I went to the stage, we couldn’t see how many people were there before we’ve arrived to the back stage, we went to the stage, there was a simple door… we passed it, and there were more than 60 000 people behind and they began to cry… It was a huge surprise to see that because we didn’t expect them.
What is the most interesting comment you have heard about your music?
I read a comment a few months ago about me as ‘the favourite of the press’. I’m still looking for a reason, but I like it so much. Last few months we’ve been checking some of the forums, my personal blog and youtube and seeing amazing things written about me. I’m really pleased with that…
Is it the technique that is important? Or the selection or the looks or the moves?
Everything is important, some deejays are doing those things better than others, but everyone tries to read the season and do his best. Finally the most important is how people perceives the complete season. Anyway is good try to improve everyday in everything.
Who’s been your favourite musician or producer that you have worked with over the years?
Danny Tenaglia is inspiring me today and ever, so I hope We’ll make a track together. Anyway I’m a lucky man, I think most of the people I have worked with are great producers and Djs and most of them are incredible people.
What inspires you?
People, music, good people, good energy…. I think having good friends and a great family helps me to be always happy and that helps me in the floor.
If you could have anyone remix any of your tracks, who would it be and why?
I think my forthcoming release ‘Burning insinde’ will be a hit, It will be available worldwide in october, this tracks has many good remixes and I hope this one will like everybody. But now Im working in a remixes from an old track called ‘Patricia never leaves the house’ with remixes by funkagenda and Kamissake that are some of my favourite artists so…
