Developer Intua has just announced BeatMaker, The first music creation studio- a sampler / sequencer for the iPhone and iPod Touch

it allows you to record and make beats on the go. It appears to function similarly to hardware like the famed Akai MPC sampler, allowing you to create loops and beats and play them back in real time. BeatMaker also includes a three-channel EQ, synchronized delay and a bitcrusher, for those of you who like to rock the 8-bit sound.

The 16 multi-touch pads enable you to load, slice, tune, and trigger sounds from an extensive sample library.

you can also create your song while performing live can arrange your song snippets to your liking, loop and improvise in real time all the building blocks of your tune into something meaningful.

It is beautifully designed and has a great functionality - you forget that you’re using an iPhone and feel like your at a recording studio … it is highly integrated with the iPhones touch capability ,it has an extensive kit library and all the audio tools actually work , it’s not just for show…
But there are some down sides of it too as the buttons often don’t react quickly enough ,instructions provided by the developer are rather vague , the sound quality isn’t great when using speakers but with headphones, it’s perfect…
