Hi Muffins,
It’s a very gloomy grey day here in Seattle. Just living up to that idea it rains too much here I guess. Our forecast is for more rain with some rain breaks. Awesome; just awesome. Luckily I get to brave the 90+ degrees in Atlanta. I love that warm Southern Charm.
I’ve been going through lots of music getting ready for my first time there. I am so excited to play and visit. Atlanta has a crazy history and I’m really looking forward to recording conversations. I love the southern drawl and I’m hoping to get some samples to use later on. I’m also interested to see what kind of hip hop I may be missing. Producers there have their own style and I’d like to try to find some cool underground stuff I’ve never heard of.
Here’s some music I’ve been listening to to get ready…
5 Big Room
- Boris & Gleb – Metro Stop [Yoke Recordings]
Techy business with a good groove. - Thomas Langner – Eclectic [Unikat]
Huge proggy electro bigness. - Booka Shade – Charlotte (Dubfire Remix) [Get Physical] | Buy
I really like what Dubfire is doing right now. He’s really clever. This is massive. - King Unique - Sugarhigh (KU 2008 Remix)
This is soooo pumping. Great redo. - Patch Park - Turn Around [Hot Kitchen]
Amazing techy peak time weirdness.
I’ll do a real chart when I can… so sorry!

Last night we had Radio Slave and Quiet Village down to play at the Nectar Lounge. The fantastic Decibel crew put on a small but good event. We were really interested to hear Quiet Village do their ambient chilloutish downtempo stuff which they were into when we arrived. People were upstairs sat down staring into the visuals and sipping their microbrews, while sweeping synths and organic drums filled the room. They were interesting and have a nice sound that should appeal to a large group of downtempo aficionados, they were too worldy new agey ambient for me.

Radio Slave got up to play around midnight and started with some rocking beats. Very techy drums and very housey basslines accompanied warbly sounds and strange horns. He played a lovely remix that had Róisín Murphy singing and his own Grindhouse tune, and carried on to play quite hardish techno until we left.

The best part of the night was getting there. First we had a delicious meal at La Spiga. If you ever come to Seattle I highly recommend you stop by and have a feast. Its delicious. After the food we set off to hear the beats in my little race car. I drive a VW GTI and so do about a million 17 year old cool boys. Last night I raced one. His V6 with 2 people against my 1.8t with three. Obviously I didn’t come out the winner, and that’s ok because speeding is for dummies . And I have new 17” low profiles while he was on ugly stock 15”. Ooooo burn. Ha.
Well that’s all from me for right now. I’ll touch base when I get back from Atlanta.
Have a great weekend.
xx
