I’d never actually heard of Strider until I saw the release pop up under the Beats and Breaks catagory on DJDownload. Might I say, he’s done a marvellous job with Tokyo Loading.
A combination of glitched electro and synth pop goodness. The original mix features some tough kicks couple with some really slick cut ups and glitches. His Myspace states that he does Korean Pop and Anime Song. I dislike the whole Anime thing, but Tokyo Loading features some pretty wicked playful synths that I could associate perfectly with a scene that doesn’t involve grown men grunting and yelling until their hair goes blonde, but instead a light-hearted conversation with in the whole world of DBZ. There’s something oddly appealing about this though; it doesn’t sound necessarily like the rest of the electro stuff that’s been coming out lately and has a unique quality about it. Tokyo Loading is a fantastic, kicking, 8-bit blitzer.
I haven’t heard much from Brothers Bud, but I’m a huge fan of their hard and fast breaks remixes and productions.
Their remix of Tokyo Loading is a fantastically well paced, wicked double kicking re-rub of the original. Keeping the key elements of the original remix, Brothers Bud manage to keep this remix sounding fresh, fast and kinda dark. Nearing the end of the track, they drop everything and replace it with the playful DBZ like synth I was talking about before under a filler breakbeat that leaves you wondering what’s to come and what comes? Pure breakbeat madness.
