Stama tells us a bit about himself and the success behind the Erase records

Tell me about your introduction to electronic music.
I joined the rave scene at early ninties after finishing high school.It was a great era with passion and excitement..It was a unique feeling to go to rave parties and dance for many hours till the sun rising..Not sure if we can live something like that again..
What DJs appealed to you the most?
According to me, Djs are the wizards of your feelings and your mood..People want to get high and feel excited and powerfull.That’s the main goal of a dj and to conduct the crowd..Many times young people use substances to get there and putting theirselves in high risk, in my opinion music leads to that effect as well, with a deeper meaning.

Erase started as a breaks label, right?
This is a true! We started in London early 2003 and we were focused on the progressive breaks scene. But slowly we moved to more electro house music and we just joined electronica where u can meet excellent dance releases.Our main artists are from Uk and France, including me coming from Greece and a couple of other artists from Australia,Germany,Usa and Canada.Our musical path leads to high quality music and constant demand of the best music quality.

Does Erase make enough money to keep you afloat?
We earn a great deal from some releases but few others sell only a small amount of copies.. The important thing is that we are going higher and higher, moving to the next level very quickly and gettting better and better through years.. It’s expected that we will get more money in the next few years, but what matters to us is to keep doing what we are doing with the same passion.

What’s your philosophy as a DJ?
Djing is a really magic thing! When u get on the decks u feel really amazing and ready to take the crowd to get the same feeling with you, to let your music be a journey and have the people do that journey with you.The key to be a good DJ is to keep the energy in what you’re playing no matter what the tempo/style is. Excellent track selection and reading the crowd is necessary.
What about ur productions?

I’ve started a couple of years ago to work with few partners in their studio and try to make my ideas a real track! Nowdays I have gained the experience to produce a track in my own studio, however , I still collaborate with my studio partner for the mixdown and mastering.
I have an upcoming ep called Global Crime with a massive Simpleton remix and few more rmxes coming up.
What’s up next for Erase?
We have signed many french artists lately, as they produce great quality electronica stuff the last few years and more artists like Electric Soulside!. We have arranged also rmxes from many brilliant artists like Aaren San,Product 01,Bass Fly,BreaktheBox,Andrea Lai and Seductions

And what about Drag N Drop?
It’s a new label in corporation with Joystick Music.Dedicated to Techno ,Minimal House and groovy Electro House.We have already signed huge releases from Richard Belsom,George Delkos,Guy Hornsby and Geo Red.Rmx duties by Digital Filth, Andrea Lai ,Male Model Machine and Vagua.Expected to get excellent feedback from dancefloor reports really soon!!
